چکیده

Background Summary: To examine the relationship between cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) parameters and pregnancy outcomes post Mustard palliation. Background: Impaired systemic ventricular function and presence of a systemic right ventricle (RV) are associated with adverse events in pregnancy. Women with transposition of the great arteries post atrial switch (Mustard procedure) are at risk of worsening arrhythmia and heart failure antenatally. Contemporary guidelines suggest that women with “more moderate systemic RV dysfunction” should be advised against pregnancy; however a threshold RV ejection fraction (EF) has not been defined as all studies to date have examined RV function using echocardiography alone. The CMR characteristics of women post Mustard palliation undergoing pregnancy and the relationship between CMR parameters and pregnancy outcomes have not yet been described.

DNA Damages on Blood Cells After Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: Along with the increased use of cardiac imaging at clinics there is increased attention to the potential risks related to the methods used like magnetic resonance (MR) and it cannot be ruled out that MR can alter DNA structure. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of routine cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scanning on DNA damages in human T lymphocytes....

Assessment of Organ Specific Iron Overload in Transfusion-dependent Thalassemia by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Techniques

The consequence of repeated blood transfusions in thalassemia is iron overload in different organs. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a reliable, non-invasive and accurate method for iron detection in various tissues, hence the introduction of MRI has revolutionized the management of these patients and improved the life expectancy of them. Cardiac MRI T2* has a profound effect not only on est...

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging characteristics and pregnancy outcomes in women with Mustard palliation for complete transposition of the great arteries

BACKGROUND Women with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) following atrial redirection surgery are at risk of pregnancy-associated arrhythmia and heart failure. The cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) characteristics of these women and the relationship of CMR findings to pregnancy outcomes have not been described. METHODS We included 17 women with atrial redirection surgery ...

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
